Fitness Centre

Our YMCA Fitness Centre offers many resources and supports to improve your overall health and fitness. Our friendly and approachable staff and volunteers are here to support you on your journey to better health.

The YMCA has a state-of-the art Fitness Centre. In a space surrounded with natural light enjoy cardio equipment, circuit equipment, plate loaded equipment and free weights. The Fitness Centre includes two studios – a studio that is used for classes and for individual workouts and stretching and a cycle fit studio.

Welcome Orientation

Are you a new health and fitness member? Our welcome orientation will help you get acquainted and comfortable with our facilities, programs, and equipment so you can start enjoying the benefits of your new YMCA membership right away.

Strength and Conditioning Orientation

Get the best start at the YMCA. Learn the proper way to use the equipment, meet the staff, and gain confidence on the fitness floor. If you are between the ages of 12 and 14 years old you must complete a Strength and Conditioning Orientation.

Cardio & Strength

Balance

This fun friendly class will work on balance strength and coordination using light weights and resistance bands.  No mat work included. Member + program or drop-in fee.  Ages 12+

You may need: indoor sneakers and photo I.D. (16+) or membership card. | You may want to bring: water bottle, lock and small towel.

Barre

This ballet-inspired fusion class mixes Pilates, dance, yoga, and strength training. Barre focuses on high reps of small range movements. In this class you will use your body weight, light dumbbells and Pilate balls. Member + program or drop-in fee.  Ages 12+

You will need: indoor sneakers, photo I.D. (16+) or membership card. | You may want to bring: water bottle, lock, small towel, and yoga mat (mats are available at the Centre).

Boot Camp

Challenge your fitness level with these variety set high-intensity workouts that utilize various equipment and your bodyweight. Boot camps are of a mix of cardio and strength training designed to improve balance, speed, agility, and coordination. Member+ program or drop-in fee. Ages 12+

Chair Exercises

This class focuses on stretching while sitting on a chair or standing using a chair for support. The poses are adaptations of those performed on the mat. Member+ program or drop-in fee. Ages 12+

You will need:  photo I.D. (16+) or membership card | You may want to bring: water bottle, lock, small cloth, and yoga mat (mats are available at the Centre).

Cardio Kickboxing

A group fitness class that combined martial arts techniques with strength movements and fast paced cardio. Build stamina, improve coordination, flexibility, burn calories while building lean muscle in this fun and challenging class.

You will need:  photo I.D. (16+) or membership card | You may want to bring: water bottle, lock, small cloth, and yoga mat (mats are available at the Centre).

Fit for Life

Fit for Life uses a variety of equipment to strengthen your muscles and increase your endurance for everyday activities. This is a low-impact class.

Kettlebell Class

A full body workout using kettlebells. Strength, cardio, core and balance conditioning in a small class environment.

Group Power®

Group Power® MOSSA Group Power® will blast all your muscles with a high-rep weight training workout. Using an adjustable barbell, weight plates, and body weight, Group Power combines squats, lunges, presses, and curls with functional integrated exercises.

Dynamic music and a motivating group atmosphere will get your heart rate up, make you sweat, and push you to a personal best! Member+ program or drop-in fee. Ages 14+

Group Power® is continuously refreshed with new music and choreography.

HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)

True HIIT, quick & dirty, in and out.  It’s a 5 minutes warmup, 20 minues of non-stop interval training, followed by 5 minutes cooldown.

Member+ program or drop-in fee. Ages 12+

You will need: indoor sneakers, photo I.D. (16+) or membership card. | You may want to bring: water bottle and lock.

Muscle Express

This express class will focus on a different muscle group each day to build strength & tone.   This class ends with a 5 minute core component.

Member + program or drop-in fee. Ages 14+

Pound

Pound is a full body workout combining the fun of drumming and different types of exercises. It includes ripstix to create light resistance and combines strength training, cardio, pilates and yoga movements.

PiYO

This is a low impact workout that blends pilates and yoga to strengthen and scup the body, enhancing flexibility.

Cycle Fitness

CycleFit

CycleFit gets your legs pumping with a high-powered indoor bike class set to energetic music. Working those major muscles in your legs also strengthens your most important muscle: your heart.

Since you control the intensity of the workout by adjusting your own bike, it’s a great workout for individuals of all ages and experiences.

Member + program or drop-in fee.  Ages 12+

CycleFit Express

A 30 minute express High intensity interval training Cycle Fit class, which gets your legs pumping with a high-powered indoor bike set to energizing music. Working those major muscles in your legs also strengthens your most important muscle – your heart. You control the intensity of your workout by adjusting your own bike.

Mind & Body

Chair Yoga

Deep Stretch & Relaxation

All levels will enjoy this class for mind and body.. The first half of the class, enjoy gentle stretches seated or standing. For the second half, practice mindfulness, tapping into your inner-strength and letting go of the daily stress and chaos. Zero in on inner peace, health and wellbeing in this 45 minute practice.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi combines gently physical exercise and stretching with mindfulness. Tai Chi can improve balance control, fitness and flexibility. Member + program or drop-in fee.  Ages 12+

Flow Yoga

This yoga class incorporates breath and energetic movement through a series of asanas (yoga postures), by which the student experiences a sense of fluid physical motion. Working in a circular fashion, moving from the floor to standing postures and then back down again. Suitable for beginners and practitioners.

Slow Flow Yoga

Take time to slow down and move through a series of Asanas. Incorporate breath and movement, choosing to challenge yourself as needed. Beginning on the mat and slowly making your way up to standing postures and back down again. Suitable for beginners and practitioners.

Sport & Recreation

Game on! There are lots of ways to get moving at the Y. Play your favorite sports and games, or try something new. From kids to adults, we’ve got something for everyone. Grab some friends and come down to the YMCA for a pick-up game and some friendly competition.

Basketball

The YMCA offers a variety of open pickup basketball times.

  • Basketball (non-instructed)
    • Parent must be in the building if child is under the age of 12 years old.
    • Included in a membership.
    • Youth 16+ must sign in with a photo I.D.
  • Basketball (30+)
    • Everyone 16+ must sign in with a photo I.D. or membership card.

Pickleball

Pickleball is a fun racquet sport for players of all levels. Similar to badminton or tennis, players use solid square racquets to hit a perforated ball over a net. Invented in the 1960s, pickleball has exploded in popularity. Come join us to play one of North America’s fastest growing sports!

Open Gym

During Open Gym time drop into the YMCA to use the various equipment.

Meet our Personal Trainers!

Meet Devin:

Devin is a YMCA certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor, with a certification in cardio-kickboxing and meditation. With a deep passion for martial arts, he has dedicated the past 15 years to studying various disciplines, primarily Karate and kickboxing. Devin brings a unique blend of physical fitness and mindfulness to his training, fostering a holistic approach to health and well-being. Devin is comfortable working with all fitness levels and ages. In his free time, Devin has a strong passion for nature and prefers to be physically active in the outdoors as much as possible.

Meet Amber:

Amber has been part of the YMCA fitness team for 19 years. She is a YMCA Training Educator, Canfitpro and YMCA certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, aquafit instructor, MOSSA group power and Pound instructor. Amber strives to motivate people to challenge themselves to build stronger, mobile bodies. She believes everyone can improve their fitness level, no matter a person’s current physical condition. Physical activity that compliments your lifestyle will make daily life more enjoyable. Amber works with patrons of all ages, including youth and seniors through cardiovascular conditioning, stability and strength training based on their needs and abilities.

Personal Training

Wherever you are in your fitness journey, a YMCA personal trainer can help you reach your fitness goals faster, and have more fun along the way. Is your workout getting stale? Are you looking to get to the next level? Or do you just need some help getting started? A YMCA personal trainer will work with you to create a workout plan tailored to meet your needs, and then help guide you through it.

Personal Training Options

Small Group Personal Training (12+yrs)

Get a personalized workout program and train with a small group of people like you. You’ll still enjoy close attention from an exercise expert and a plan, but you’ll also get to spend quality time with your partner, gym buddy, or a whole group of friends.

Sign up as a group through Member Services.  A minimum of two weeks’ notice is required to secure the required space and staff team.  Specific programs include customized sport-specific training, dry-land training, functional-fitness circuit, and customized boot camp. Two to eight participants are required for this program.

Small Group Training Fees (8 Sessions): 

  • Group of 2: $176 + tax per person
  • Group of 3: $132 + tax per person
  • Group of 4-6: $88 + tax per person

Independent Personal Training

The YMCA is committed to providing the fitness resources you need to realize your goals.  Personal trainers offer valuable services that help keep you on track with your fitness goals.
