Prizes will be awarded to the top team and individual fundraisers, as well as throughout the event.
Funds go towards the Strong Community Campaign supporting the financial assistance program.
How to register:
Step 1: Find four friends to create a team of 5 people with a goal of raising $750.00
Step 2: Register your team at the link below. Only the team captain is required to register. (Not able to register your team online? Stop by the YMCA and register in-person at Membership Services). As the team Captain, you will be contacted with further information about how and where to pick up your team’s pledge forms and other important information.

Early Bird Registration: Register by February 3rd for all team members to be entered to win a night stay at the Holiday Inn (local) and a $50.00 gift card to the Bistro.

Where do the funds go?
The YMCA of Pictou County is a charity that has been serving kids, youth, families and seniors in our community for more than 50 years. At the YMCA, we believe that everyone (especially kids) should have the chance to be active, healthy and have the same opportunities.
YMCA financial assistance provides access to activities such as: day camp, swimming lessons, after school programming, karate and so much more.
Last year, the YMCA of Pictou County provided more than $260, 000 in financially assisted programs and services to people in Pictou County. Currently, 1 in 5 of our members and participants rely on this financial subsidy to take part in our programs and services.
What is the MEGAthon?
The MEGAthon is a fundraising and fitness competition. Teams are asked to collect pledges to participate in a four hour event.
What are the activities?
Activities will consist of: cycle fit, group fitness classes, boot camps, circuits, and team challenges.
Your team will sign up with an open minded to participate in the various activities. These activities will be a surprise to your team until the day of the event. You will participate in activities as a team. All activities are set-up for a team of five.
On the registration form, we do ask that you indicate health restrictions or dietary concerns of team members.

How much do I have to fundraise?
We are asking each team to strive for a fundraising goal of $750.00 to help support the Strong Community Campaign.
Here are some ideas about how to reach this goal:
- Make each team member responsible for $150.00. By asking eight friends for a $20.00 pledge you have exceeded your goal)
- Ask a business to pledge your team. (Reach out to providers/services that you frequent or have a relationship with)
- Hold a small fundraiser for your team like a bake sale, yard sale, craft sale, a fun run with friends, or a party.
Is there a registration fee?
There is no registration fee. However, we are ask each team to have a fundraising goal of $750.00 to help support the Strong Community Campaign.
How do I get a prize?
Crombie Cup Titles
- Highest Individual Fundraiser – A year’s worth of bragging rights, a six-month YMCA membership, and gift cards.
- Highest Team Fundraiser – A year’s worth of bragging rights, five entrances to the Johnny Miles Running Event Weekend and a gift card basket.
Crombie Cup winners will be determined by the amount collected by 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 29th.
There will also be prizes awarded at the closing ceremony.
What if I don't have a team?
That is okay! We have designated team captains that would be excited to have you on their team. If you want to participate but don’t have a team, please contact Heidi at email@example.com
When can I hand in my pledge forms?
Submission of all donations will take place on Wednesday, February 26th from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, February 28th between 4:30 & 6:00 pm and on Saturday, February 29th between 7:30 & 9:00 a.m.
To be considered for a Crombie Cup title all funds must be submitted by 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 29th. All donations collected after this time will not qualify for the prize awards, but we absolutely appreciate them!
What do I need to bring?
On the day of the event, please bring: indoor sneakers, water bottle, comfortable workout clothes, team spirit, and team costume/shirt (encouraged).
There will be hydration stations with snacks and Subway provided.
What does the day look like?
Check-in will take place from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Teams will receive their schedule for the day at the check in time. The opening ceremony will start at 8:30 a.m. with the first team challenge.
The event will end by 12:30 p.m.
What will I get by participating in the event?
At the event you will get the opportunity to win prizes, a day of fitness fun, lunch provided by Subway, snacks, and the great feeling of supporting your community.
Based on feedback from previous years, we will not be offering MEGAthon shirts. However, we do encourage you to come with team shirts/outfits.
Who can participate?
Members and non-members 12 years old and over can participate.
Is child care available?
The YMCA Childminding services is open 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Please let us know if you will be using the child minding services.
