Dear YMCA Members,
As a YMCA, we strive to offer and maintain the very best Centre, staff, programs and services while keeping fees affordable. We are pleased to have been able to keep fees at a flat rate since 2012. However, the cost of operating the Y continues to increase.
As approved by the YMCA Board of Directors, programs and services fees will increase by 3% and membership plans will increase by 3.5% on September 1, 2019. This increase is necessary to remain a fiscally responsible charity without cutting services to members and participants.
The change in fees are in relation to:
- the increase in costs of supplies and utilities, as well as provincial minimum wage increase in 2019 and the anticipated increase again in 2020.
- the need to replace worn fitness equipment, to be able to provide new cardio and strength equipment, and to remain relevant and exciting with new classes.* see below
The new rates are as follows:
|Type||Current Rate||New Rate (as of September 1, 2019)|
|Student (15+)||$39.14 + tax||$40.51+ tax|
|Adult (18-59)||$55.12 + tax||$57.05 + tax|
|Adult Couple (18-59)||$91.54 + tax||$94.74+ tax|
|Senior (60+)||$47.12 + tax||$48.77+ tax|
|Senior Couple (60+)||$76.33 + tax||$79.00+ tax|
|Family||$105.88 + tax||$109.59+ tax|
|Corporate & Groups||Various rates +tax||Add 3.5% +tax to current rates|
|Child Care fees per day
We understand that any rate increase, however nominal, may cause concern for some people. At the YMCA, no one is turned away because of an inability to pay the full fee. If you believe you may qualify for financial assistance, please contact our Member Services team. YMCA donors and partners help make it possible for the YMCA to provide financial assistance.
Thank you for being a member of the YMCA of Pictou County and for sharing in our cause of building a healthier and connected community!
