A National Celebration of Peace

YMCA Peace Week is a time when we celebrate the presence of peace in our communities, and reflect on the peace-building work that happens all year both inside and outside the YMCA.

This year’s Peace Week will take place on November 17th to November 24th.

YMCA Peace Week calls people to:  Build community. Act for peace.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAPABAP///wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw==‚Äč

YMCA Peace Medal

Each year, YMCAs across Canada celebrate acts of peace by recognizing individuals and groups who, without any special resources, status, wealth or position, have demonstrated a commitment to building peace within their community or communities elsewhere in the world.  Peacemakers across Canada will receive special recognition and a medal at a ceremony. Ceremonies are held in YMCAs across Canada to recognize peacemakers. Peace Awards at the YMCA of Pictou County are given out at the Peace Breakfast on November 19th.

Peacemakers are selected through a nomination process. To nominate a Peacemaker, please click here. Final nomination call is due by November 1st.
